Day 827 The Words

Black Lives Matter
The fight to bring justice and reform is important. To protect the lives of people is important. To remove those who don't live with integrity, honor and respect all life from positions of power is important. Currently our culture has been one of money and power. Those who have money, have the power.

I have heard proposals of defunding police departments and reinvesting in services such as mental health hotlines that would be first responders designed to handle mental health situations. And to create other such services that can respond instead of the police where force is unnecessary. Force should always be a last resort and it must be wielded respectfully and by those with the utmost integrity and deserving of trust. It is a honorable position, or at least is should be. Obviously that honor has been lost.

I think about what if I were to join a police department and be a police officer. Would I be the only good man there? Meaning, that I am looking to be kind and deescalate and prevent violent encounters were possible, to be trained in my mind and self to be calm and zen like. Almost meditative or peaceful warrior, able to respond with force yet in control of his fear. Obviously not being racist.

The other side though is my coworkers. I have experienced the sense of when your coworkers don't like you or you know you don't have the support of others. You are the odd man out, and they want you out. I remember a story of a police officer that responded to a situation peacefully instead of shooting, and he was fired. Yes fired for being peaceful and deescalating a situation. The reason given was that he failed to protect his fellow officer. So I can imagine that being me. So its not just the case of a few bad apples, in some departments it may be the entire department that is corrupted.

Those who know the history of the US. The integration of black students into white schools was forced onto states that vehemently opposed it. Obviously these are the racist states or the southern states. You can see footage of people being overtly racist during that time period, the 1960s. Since then they have been saying its an issue of states rights versus the federal government. So the racism is deep and real and its become cultural. So its not hard to imagine, that you are raised as a racist because that is who your family is, your neighbors are, your town/city is. And you become a police officer knowing full well the power it gives you.

Every person is specific. Each has a specific story/life, and each has made specific decisions. Each state is specific, each city is specific, each town, and each neighborhood is specific. The world is a big place.

The fight that we will have to fight for soon enough is economic equality. Because that is what I believe Martin Luther King Jr. was really killed for, because what he realized before he was assassinated was that poverty is the greatest killer, of not only blacks but others as well. Because those in power wanted to keep their money and how things work. That is why I opened up the point of money in the beginning. I mean assassins can be hired with money.

Notice how these past days in US, people were protesting like crazy, part of it is because people are at home already, they aren't as busy at work. Imagine if everyone had the money to have the leisure time. This is a glimpse to that future, where people truly work as their full time jobs to change the world. Imagine removing that economic barrier to being politically active, or to volunteer to clean up the world, and to bring equality to all. That is why having a bare minimum level of living for everyone to have guaranteed would such a boost for Humanity, and our future. So that means Money for all to cover what's required to live in dignity.

Being Black is Beautiful. I saw a video from Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. giving that speech. Its worth a watch. I tried looking for it but couldn't find it. But I found this one: Your life's blueprint: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZmtOGXreTOU
You can search for Martin Luther King speeches archive to find his speeches. Enjoy!
